Twisted logic.

LET'S SAY, you backed into a man holding a fragile object. The object breaks. You turn around. Thinking it's your fault, you promise him you'd compensate for it.
However, turns out, that man himself was very much aware of your back-pedalling and could have easily alerted you well beforehand, instead he continued and knocked into you as you backed into him, and thus dropped the object.
So actually, it's not really your fault after all.
Should you still have to pay for the object, plainly because you promised, even after you find out it's not your fault at all?

LET'S SAY, I promise to help deliver a package for someone, oblivious to it's contents.
And then, I find out that it's drugs that is being smuggled.
Do I comply and still deliver it simply because I promised?

LET'S SAY, you and I are strangers, seeing from afar, I see that you're about my height. I made a bet with you in which I promise to pay you a certain amount of money if you're taller than me. You agreed. We walk towards each other.
Turns out, you're taller than me.
HOWEVER, you were wearing stilts.
So you really aren't taller than me. No, you're shorter.
I still have to pay because I promised?

LET'S SAY, I promise, I will seek retribution from a certain man for the murder of someone I know.
Turns out, he is innocent.
I still kill him, because I promised, right? By the logic of 'keeping your promises'?

Basically, LET'S SAY:

1) You promise in the state of oblivion.
2) You find out the truth.
3) Do you still have to keep your promise?

Wait, let's put that in perspective once more,

LET'S SAY, you promised to get something done.
Turns out, what you have to do isn't a good deed at all.
I promised you, must I follow suit?

LET'S SAY, I thought I was wrong. I promised to make amends.
Turns out, I was not wrong, YOU were wrong.
But I promised to make amends, so I must keep my promise?

LET'S SAY, I promise, I will massacre the whole of a certain neighbourhood, on the basis that they have contracted an incurable disease that will only spread and cause a pandemic that nobody can escape from.
Turns out, they are healthy and fit as a fiddle.
But I still go on a mass genocide, simply because I promised, even if the basis is no longer true?
'Money is not the problem.' Oh really? Then why are you still seeking compensation, Mr. Hypocrite?

Ludicrous.
And I thought adults were supposedly much too mature for these games.

I'll keep my end of the bargain, but hey, that's only if Truth keeps its end of the bargain.

The Life of A Fighter.

Imagine this:

You're a gladiator.

You walk into the arena, anxious, but prepared to face your opponent.

After a long wait, he (got female gladiator one ah? ==") finally appears.

"Intimidating indeed." You thought to yourself after hearing the whispers about him.

But, you're not going to go down without a fight, no?

Staring eye to eye, you two walk in circles with a constant locus from one another.

And soon, the majestic gong sounds, signifying the start of a battle.

Blows were exchanged. Every single one fierce and violent, but all missed, were dodged or were blocked.

You were holding up pretty well.

But as time went on, you realized you were losing ground.

Your opponent is faster, stronger and more agile.

His technique is more refined and his reflexes are instinctive.

You were left chasing shadows, barely even evading his attacks, let alone going on the offensive.

And not long after that. He landed his first blow - A fierce swipe from his blade.

It hurt.

It hurt extremely badly.

You were already fighting a losing battle, but now, with this injury, wouldn't it be impossibility?

Your body was bleeding profusely, but your mind was sane.

Your survival instincts were tingling, as if requesting you to retreat and surrender.

'Save yourself!' It whispered.

What would you do?

Would you cower and retreat? Surrender and save your soul? Pull out and let your pride as a fighter get tarnished, but survive, live to fight another day? Give up on the treasure that is on offer for the victor and to avoid the undoubted pain that will come?

Or would you press on despite knowing the odds are stacked against you? Persevere despite the excruciating pain inflicted upon you, hoping that an opening, however unlikely, will eventually appear and take your chance, and risk facing pain, malice, mischief, despair and sorrow on the last throw of the dice, all for the treasure that might change your life and end your imprisonment as a gladiator?

They say pride is utterly worthless and that your own life is your greatest treasure.

What says you?

"Ignorance is bliss."

Sadly you just don't have ignorant bone in you. You like to guess and you're quite good at it. But sorry, sometimes that bit of intelligence brings you more sorrow than joy.

"Simpletons lead peaceful lives."

Go back to your peaceful slumber, kid.

Growing up.

Who I am hates who I've been, and long will that continue as I grow older.

I've been reading some of my old posts. While I recognize my quirky self in them, I sometimes wonder if I really behaved and talked like that in the past?

In hindsight, many of the things I used to hold with high importance now seem childish and foolish. It leaves me noticing that our understanding of the world and its people really scales with maturity.

Perhaps many years from now, or even just next year, I'll look back to past posts and ponder the same thing, thinking how inappropriate some of the things I've said/did are.

---

But growth is a gift from God.

All humans are endowed with it. You and I are no different.

We grew from oblivious infants to energetic children to youthful teenagers and someday we'll grow into elegant ladies and charming gentlemen before finally settling in the role of the doting parents, helping our children grow just as our parents did for us.

And the way we think and our perspective consistently varies as we grow up.

---

Really though, the above is just food for thought.

Do not dwell and mull over it for too long.

The important thing is living in the moment.

The time will come when we are fathers and mothers and grandfathers and grandmothers.

But for now, don't think too far ahead and just live your life as a teenager exploding with youth, exuberance and energy!

After all, time never returns, now's the only chance to live a precarious (and preferably proper) teenage life!

:)

Live life!

Self Service.

Thank you to everyone who asked me about my previous post. But honestly, it's no big deal. I just got a little too pissed off. That's all! :D

----

I, being myself, know it when I need help.

I, being myself, and a frequent counselor of others, know that help can only be given if the target allows it.

I, being myself, a frequent counselor of others and through experience, know that sometimes, only I can help myself.

The point I'm trying to make is...

1) You must know when you need help.

Not knowing you're in a bad situation is... bad. Seek help if you will, be a clam if you wish to. But you must know what is happening and what is causing the 'bad situation.' Then only can you solve the problem, either by yourself, or by help from others.

2) You can only help the person in question if he allows you to help him.

If he does not, and rather delve further into the bottomless abyss-like pit called despair, there's not much you can do.

You can throw an extremely long rope down that pit, but a rope has its limits and whether he wants to put his hands on the rope is altogether another question as well.

If you don't catch the analogy and thought I was speaking Spanish....

You can always offer to help someone, but the help you can offer has its own limitations and you won't (and shouldn't) sacrifice too much if he/she does not want your help. Furthermore, whether he/she wants to take up your offer to help him/her is not somethine you can control.

3) But sometimes.... Only you can help yourself.

Your friends can give all the advice in the world, but if you do not advance by yourself, you're still stuck on where you're standing it.

If you suffer from self-induced depression (like I do sometimes), your only saving grace is yourself. Decide what you want to do with yourself.

You can either choose....

a) Continue to emo and show the world what a badass you are, staring straight into their eyes with unholy vengeance when they say 'hi' and giving them the 'killing face.' Then when they ask 'what's wrong?' you coolly reply 'Nothing's happening, everything's fine,' before trudging off to emo somewhere else. (Not very wise.)

Or

b) Climb out from the rut that you dug yourself into by yourself. Embrace the sunshine of the world. Do not frown at the brooding downpour but instead shout 'YAY ME SO HAPPY!' when you see the rainbow that appears after that. (Genius choice.)

The problem lies in self esteem.

Good luck mates!

Got To Open My Eyes to Everything.

I always get good dreams (possibly thanks to my imagination and creativity).

And it really sucks to wake up to life sometimes.

---

You can dream all you want.

But one day you have to come back down to earth.

Life is not a dream.

Dreams will always be better than life.

But unfortunately, we live in life, not dreams.

Idealism is the painter of a prettier picture.

Realism is the merciless truth of the world.

And in truth, I hate this world we live in.

Yet, I am an idealist who aspires to change the world.

Pameran Kerjaya is full of shit. I don't want to elaborate. It makes me boil over.

Thank you to the three stooges for trying to cheer me up today.

The weird lala cheerleader, the annoying black kid and the geeky girl.

I hate how tactless I can be sometimes.

Define Your Justice.

What is justice?

Who can judge what is justice?

Now is it justified that he/she/it can judge what is justice?

In the end it's a game of perspective.

On a side note, choir got 2nd place again. For the fourth year in a row! And so it continues. Is it a curse? Only time will tell. Good luck lads for next year. Sadly there's no next year for us anymore.

Every time we got 2nd we told ourselves "We'll be back next year!". Seems like our time has truly ran out.

Oh and they said I look like I was "meant to be" when I wore the prefect uniform lol. I wonder how'd my life pan out if I said "yes" instead of "no" that time?

For good measure.

And this is the awesome choir! Hahahaha. I had fun. :)

The Thing About Monarchy...

You will have read plenty in studies about things such as "raja berkuasa mutlak" and "kita tidak harus derhaka." Probably in BM and Sejarah.

I've been having this thought hanging in my mind for a long long time now.

I hate monarchy.

It's just unfair.

The Hang Tuah - Hang Jebat story is a perfect example.

Tuah gets framed for doing things he didn't. The Sultan gets swayed. Sultan exerts his "uncompared authority" by announcing the pending execution of Tuah.

Tuah was saved by Tun Perak (I think, or was it Tun Perpatih...), who chose to hide him instead of kill him.

Jebat, being the closest of friends with Tuah, decides to go on a conquest to set things straight. He successfully does so and the Sultan flees.

Sultan now turns to Tuah, the very man he wanted dead, to save his life.

Very wimpy, really.

BUT TUAH AGREES? AND KILLS HIS BEST FRIEND?

----

You know, serving an able and capable leader is one thing. But one that gets swayed so easily, wants you dead, and is a very average leader is another.

I really think it's silly that a "king" can kill whoever he desires, without trial or question.

It's madness. Just because it's your birthright? What have you done to earn our respect and undying loyalty? Come out of your mother's womb?

In my humble opinion, people are born equal. Just because the father was a great king will not mean the son will be the same. It does not warrant him the unsurpassed power just because he was born of royal blood.

Good thing it's different these days.

Geez, I'm having a rant over a komsas prosa klasik. =="

DISCLAIMER: I know things work very differently now, but I just feel very agitated over how the kings of the past had so much power it was sickening.

It scaresss meee....

Haha it really does.

Kids these days "grow up" so fast and get such bad influence.

Words like "fuck", "screw you", "bitch", and all kinds of insults get thrown around so freely.

Could it be that the "pengaruh hedonisme" that we so often write about in karangans taking its toll? It could well be.

Things have definitely changed. Amazing what five years can change.

When I was standard six, saying the "f" word was such a taboo for the entire school, and nobody would say it.

Nowadays, it's as if it's the most natural thing.

Drastic, it really is.

Manners, is a virtue none should ever forget and all should incorporate it into their lives.

Where is the love?

Cell: Racism.

Lately I've been more or less lazy to blog.... Here's a rare one..

But there's probably more to come. When I blog... I sort of get into a "Rush Mode".

Today I went to church. Was fun, undoubtedly.

We (our cell) talked about society problems and many nonsense arose courtesy of Jung Kiang and his leng chaiz (* leng chaiz here doesn't mean handsome, more like "konco") of lameness.

Such problems included....

- DotA Addiction among teenagers.
Jon dismissed this idea because the person in need of help is not someone else but just Jung Kiang.

-Increasing rate of homosexuality among men and women.
Once again, dismissed, this time by me, because the person in need of help, is of course.... Jung Kiang again.

-Severe incline of intelligence among people nowadays.
.... Need I even say? (*Victim is Jung Kiang*)

Then, we ended up talking about racism and how Ram is the victim. Quite comical.

Soon, racism entered a bigger fray. Not just a joke among friends anymore as it was with Ram.

We were discussing our school's recent ruckus involving the new disliked principle.

We sort of, unanimously agreed she was being biased, and many of her actions were invoking racial tension, instead of harmony.

We raised topics such as the now well-known incident during the PIBG Annual meeting.

This, was the only stage where the parents can effectively converse with the school's officials and sort things out.

This, was the only stage where the parents could speak their thoughts right to her face and ask what was her intention of doing certain things that has created a rift among her and the students.

YET, she amazingly brushed aside all those accusations and LEFT the meeting abruptly with the reason being, "Sorry, I need to pray now."

And she never came back.

*These were told to me by a witness who was present at the meeting. I'm sincerely sorry for any inaccuracies. But there shouldn't be any, unless I wasn't told the whole story.

There are also many other issues which annoyed me to no ends, particularly the infamous STAGED Q&A SESSION.

According to many sources (probably reliable, one of them being the question asker him/herself.), our headmistress gathered students from the school to ask questions that SHE HAS SET on the next Monday in a Q&A session.

No wonder I was left wondering what was with her fluency that she has never shown in answering questions. The reason? IT WAS STAGED AND SHE KNEW THE QUESTIONS BEFOREHAND.

The reason why students were unfazed by the challenge she made to answer EVERY and ANY questions, were because, THEY TOO WERE ALREADY NOTED TO ASK QUESTIONS (*Most of the students are passive and could care less to stand up against her, so it was quite shocking originally).

BUT, she couldn't keep her word.

Some students also said that she brushed aside certain questions that deviated from the original one she set and muttered some gibberish nonsense. Some also said that when another student wanted to come up and ask a question, she ignored it and said "It's over."

Some class she has.

Next was the infamous Chinese New Year Celebration incident.

She notoriously raised eyebrows of many when she pronounced that there would be NO DRUMS OR GONGS DURING THE LION DANCE.

This is..... retarded.

WHAT KIND OF F*CKING LION DANCE HAS NO DRUMS? YOU BLOODY DUMB ARH?

Then she gave probably the most (in)famous quotation in our school's history.

"The drums will attract Malay ghosts."

WTF!?!??!?!?! I MEAN WTF!?!?!??!?! SO NOW YOU'RE BEING A RACIST NOW BY GIVING PRIORITY TO YOUR RELIGIOUS NEEDS WHEN IT'S OUR DAY?

What kind of superstitious BULLSHIT is this? Loud noises attracting Malay ghosts, as she says.
This is the first time in my sixteen years of my life I've ever heard this nonsense.

Even some of the parents could not help but think "KNNCCB!?!?!"

In the end, after immense pressure from teachers and students, she gave in and allowed the drums.

HOWEVER, in what many students deem as an act of defiance, she once again, rose to the stage of fame by wearing the opposite colour of what every other teacher was wearing - Blue.

With every teacher, regardless of race, endorsing the big day of the Chinese by wearing red garments, she wore blue.

She was instantly recognized everywhere she went as "The Blob of Blue" on that day. (*See? Isn't the word instantly recognizable in this sea of red?)

This was a trivial matter though, and I could care less. She might not have even meant it to be an act of defiance. But whatever you think it is, it's up to you.

I would talk about the mandatory prayer every Monday morning, but I think that issue is already well renown enough, I wouldn't need to say anything about it. Just a recap though, for those who don't know and are interested.

Every Monday morning, we are now required to pray.

Not that I have an issue with this.

In her words. "Sekarang, disilakan semua warga Islam untuk angkat tangkat tangan dan berdoa."

Seriously I don't have a problem with this.

But a teacher pointed out. It's because of our carefree attitude that the government are minor-ising our race. We don't give much of a damn even though they're challenging the equality oaths they've sworn.

He/She states (some parts I've changed due to memory inefficiency), "Right now they're asking the Muslims to pray, but not us!? Why is she putting emphasis on the Muslims? That's already an act of inequality. Are we second class citizens to the so called bumiputeras? Just because we are the minority, they're now bullying us around? This is racism."

I couldn't help but agree? Are we second fiddle to the natives just because we aren't the natives? Native or not, we are still human, and why don't we deserve equal rights as you? What have you done to earn that privileges? Nothing, you were born here and spoon-fed with those privileges.

Are there any thoughts on this? Feel free to comment. Any insertion is appreciated.

I'm sorry if I've offended any of you. I was just letting out some thoughts I've welled up in my heart for some time.

Over and out.

Lies.

DISCLAIMER: This is an opinionated post.

Are you a Lingam, or are you a Soi Lek?

I mean, are you a liar, who'd go to any length to deny accusations despite all evidences handed right in his face.

Or are you someone who'd admit to accusations if they were true, own up and apologize?

The difference between them is whether they lie or not.

I confess, I lie alot. Don't you? But It's usually not over a big matter.

Sometimes I lie so naturally, easily and convincingly it scares me.

"Why is it so easy to tell a lie and so hard to tell the truth when it matters?"

I really do not know. Perhaps it's just the nature of mankind. It's in our blood to lie.

I recently told my friends jokingly:

"Dude, I think my talent is lying. I can really convince people."

My afterthoughts were... It's true sometimes.

While all these lies are usually no big deal, just to hide some secrets or stuff, sometimes we just lose our credibility and integrity by lying so often like it's nothing wrong.

Manipulating what others think are the "truth" is bad. No matter how far you go to defend it, you know deep down it's wrong to misuse one's trust.

Some of the white lies I told recently include....

Caryi: You ponteng school today arh!?!?!
LiQi: Nola, I just got back this morning.

[Improvised version]

LiQi: Why you never go school today?
HuaJie: Hahahhaa lazy la..... You went?
LiQi: Of course. Today damn alot homework. It sucks.
HuaJie: No house practice?
LiQi: Ya this whole week no house practice, next week got. And Wednesday no more practice.
HuaJie: Why?
LiQi: Cuz pengetua la. She say ITU ORANG LAH.
HuaJie: What?
LiQi: I duno la, she say because of some person, she don't want on that day liau.
HuaJie: She damn random right? Only green house?
LiQi: Ya only green house, red house still have both days. I suspect she had a fall out with Siva. Doesn't matter la. Next week our turn to have two practices. Alternating.
HuaJie: I see...

Heck, sometimes I even conspire with others to lie.

LiQi: Jou, why you ponteng today? It was alot of fun.
Jou: You went school meh?
LiQi: I did.
Jou: You liar!
LiQi: I really did, ask Yanyun. Yanyun, I went school right?
Yanyun: Yeah, he went.
LiQi: See?

Perhaps this is why we are humans.

Anyway, if you're picking up lying as a "hobby" or something, this is a lie you should try.

"It sounds like me, farts like me, smells like me, has the same toilet as me, but 100% it's not me."

It's the "in-thing" to do now.
